The Music Institute Folk Club presents

Actor/singer/songwriter John Tams’ associations with the National Theatre and the English folk scene go back a long way. As well as acting in numerous theatrical productions, including Larkrise, The Mysteries and Warhorse, and TV series, including the part of Daniel Hagman (alongside Sean Bean) in Sharpe, he also provided the award-winning music for these and many other shows. In his capacity as music director of Warhorse he spends much of his time abroad as new productions open up around the world so this will be a rare chance to see him in the UK.

JOHN TAMS & BARRY COOPE

He was a member of The Albion Band in the '80's and, until recently, Home Service. He has also released four critically acclaimed solo albums in his own right, and was the musical director of the Sony Award-winning Radio Ballads. Over the years John has won six BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards including best album, best song, folksinger of the year and top duo with Barry Coope.

JOHN TAMS & BARRY COOPE

Barry Coope is a member of top acapella trio Coope Boyes and Simpson (that appeared at the Medici Theatre in May) and the six-piece Voices At The Door, that has worked with Michael Morpurgo on a number of projects including his Christmas Cathedral tours. His engaging vocal and keyboard skills making him the perfect musical partner for John Tams.
